France overtook India in tourist arrivals to Bali in August
Bali received 685,994 foreign tourists in August 2026. That is 1.69% fewer than in July and 0.46% more than in August 2025. The Bali Tourism Office cited data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS).
Australia ranked first (161,258), China second (47,613) and France third (41,937). India dropped to fourth (34,837), and the United Kingdom was fifth (32,928).
The office attributes the rise from France to European summer holidays and the heat. French visitors most often head to Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu and Ubud.
From January to August 2026, Bali welcomed 4,586,959 foreign tourists. The target for the year is 7 million.
What it means for buyers: foreign arrivals are holding at last year's level, with no noticeable growth. Australia remains the main market, and in summer Europe outpaces India. When choosing an area, look at who travels there and in which months.
