Bali tax office collects 8.6% more and widens the tax base

From January to August 2026, Bali's tax office collected Rp 11.2 trillion (about US$608 million). That is 8.56% more than in the same months of 2025 and 51.8% of the annual target.
Tourism, hotels and food service contributed 16.5% (Rp 1.85 trillion), real estate 5.8% (Rp 654 billion).
The tax office is widening the base: it issues tax numbers from population ID records, registers VAT payers and runs audits.
What it means for buyers: expect more checks. If you rent out a villa, keep your tax number and filings in order. When buying, ask the seller or developer whether the property's taxes have been paid.
