Bali signs must carry Balinese script by April 2027

Bali Governor Wayan Koster has set a deadline of April 2027 for signs to carry Balinese script.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌

The rule has been in force since 2018 (Governor's Regulation No. 80). It covers hotels, restaurants and warungs, shops, offices, tourism venues, and private and government institutions. Balinese script goes on top, Latin letters below, at the same size.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌

No penalties for missing the deadline have been announced yet.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌

What it means for buyers: if you are buying a rental villa, a hotel or a commercial space, check its signage. Replacing a sign is cheap, but it is best done before April 2027 — ask the management company who will handle it.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌
