Bali sells petrol by odd and even license plates
From 17 to 19 October 2026, Pertalite petrol in Bali can only be bought on your "own" day. Cars and motorbikes with an odd last plate digit refuel on odd dates, even digits on even dates.
There is also a cap: 20 liters per car and 3 liters per motorbike until things return to normal. Trucks refuel only at night, ambulances and fire trucks go first.
The reason is a fuel shortage since mid-October, with queues of several hours at petrol stations. From 15 to 17 October, provincial civil servants worked from home.
Pertamina aims to build up 48 million liters at the Manggis and Sanggaran terminals by 17 October - enough for 14–15 days. 66 stations in Denpasar and Badung are open 24 hours.
What it means for buyers: if you are viewing properties these days, allow extra travel time and check the last digit of your rental car or bike plate. If you already rent out a villa, warn your guests in advance.
