Bali's tourist levy: Rp235 billion collected, but fewer than half of visitors pay

From January to August 2026, foreign visitors paid Rp235 billion in Bali's tourist levy.
Still, not everyone pays: 43% of tourists did, up from 35.4% in 2025. The levy itself is unchanged at Rp150,000 per person. From late August it will be announced on every international flight to Bali.
What it means for buyers: the amount is too small to stop anyone from coming. What matters more is whether the money goes into roads and waste collection. That affects how pleasant Bali is to live in and to rent out.
