Bali reminder: foreign and local tourists must get the same service
Bali's consumer protection agency (YLPK Bali) urged tourism businesses to serve all guests equally - foreigners and Indonesians alike.
The call follows complaints in the media and on social networks: domestic tourists say they are treated worse than foreigners.
YLPK Bali director I Putu Armaya noted that Consumer Protection Law No. 8 of 1999 prohibits discrimination against customers. This covers hotels, villas, restaurants, travel agencies and transport.
What it means for buyers: if you plan to rent out a villa, terms and service must be the same for every guest. Indonesians are your guests too, and complaints about unequal treatment hurt reviews.
