A villa in Tabanan was shut down for being built too close to the ocean

Villa Vedas in Pangkung Tibah, Tabanan, was shut down by the Bali parliament's planning-violations committee (Pansus TRAP). It sits closer to the ocean than the rules allow.
An inspection on July 9 also found that part of the shore had been artificially built up. The site is now taped off by police. Next come permit checks and a public hearing.
What it means for buyers: a villa right on the water can be a problem rather than a perk. Before buying, check that the house stands outside the coastal setback and that the building permit (PBG) matches what was actually built.
