Which visa you need depends on what you do in Bali: live, invest or work. A mistake here is expensive, up to and including deportation.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍

Investor KITAS

  • Issued to a shareholder of a foreign-owned company (PT PMA). The investor's own stake must be at least 10 billion rupiah.
  • The capital must actually be paid in. The company must pay in at least 2.5 billion and not withdraw it for 12 months. The "notary will register a stake without money" scheme is false information in documents.
  • More about the company is in the article on PT PMA in 2026.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍

Golden visa

  • 5 or 10 years.
  • For an individual who sets up a company: an investment of $2.5 million for 5 years or $5 million for 10 years.
  • For an individual without a company (government bonds, shares, deposit): $350,000 for 5 years or $700,000 for 10 years.
  • It does not give a right to citizenship. Citizenship follows the general rules: 5 years in a row or 10 years with breaks, an exam and giving up your previous citizenship.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍

Second home visa

For those who want to live here, not work. More details are in the article on the second home visa.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍

What you cannot do on a tourist visa

  • Work and earn income in Indonesia.
  • Promote your services in Bali on social media if it looks like working locally.
  • The penalty under the immigration law: up to 5 years or up to 500 million rupiah. Deportation is an administrative measure and does not need a court.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍

If you rent out housing to foreigners

You must report every foreign guest to the immigration service through the APOA app. The fine is up to 25 million rupiah. More details are in the article on APOA.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍

What has changed

  • The B211 visa no longer exists. Visas are now labelled with the indices C and D.
  • In October 2024, the immigration law was amended (No. 63/2024). An entry ban can last up to 10 years, extendable by another 10, and for life in case of a security threat.
  • The C18 visa for future employees since 14.06.2025 - 90 days without extension.‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍

Editorial note

Balinsky editorial team · 12 October 2026. The text has been checked against Indonesian laws in force on this date. Update: one review advised increasing your stake for a KITAS at a notary without paying anything in. You must not do this. We removed the outdated B211 and the old C18 visa conditions.
